Introduction of diseases of the immune system are diverse and complex, but can be divided in violation of immunodeficiency, cellular and humoral immune response or abnormal hypersensitivity or allergic reactions and autoimmune diseases. Although not described in this chapter, secondary immunodeficiencies may be related to stress, poor diet, medications and other factors that may be especially important for people with intellectual disabilities (ID). This section will focus on the role of diseases of the immune system in the pathogenesis of disorders of the nervous and immune disorders associated with certain genetic syndromes ID. The method of electronic database MEDLINE (from 1960 to last revision June 2008) was searched to find the 513 studies on the relationship between ID and immune system disorders. Broad search strategy included reference to the documents mentioned in the electronic search. The electronic search used the special terms and MeSH lasix 180 mg keywords (deviations in mental development or mental retardation or learning or developmental disabilities or autism or Down syndrome or chromosome 18) and (diseases of the immune system or immunodeficiency or autoimmune diseases).
